Tess Reid Art

Tess was born in 1971 in Durban, South Africa, to a Polish immigrant father and South African mother. Tess inherited her artistic talent from her father and grew up next door to local, well-known artists who exposed her to a world of fine art.

She started drawing from a young age and took art as a subject throughout her school career. After school she studied Interior Design at Natal Technical College for three years and after graduating, worked as a furniture designer and subsequently as an in-house Interior Designer at a Durban Architects firm.

Tess realised her passion was more toward the fine arts and started to paint in oils on canvass, in 2011 when she moved to the beautiful KwaZulu-Natal, Midlands. Her artistic style started to take shape and developed into Impressionistic Realism as she was inspired by colour, shape and Chiaroscuro in nature. It’s a passion of Tess’s to be able to capture a moment in time with the help of photography; the outcome being, to capture the imagination and to leave a lasting impression on the viewer.
